Auburn is down a backup offensive lineman after the first day of fall camp.
Coach Gus Malzahn announced at his Friday press conference that Tyler Carr left the team to pursue a professional opportunity after graduating Saturday.
Malzahn offered high praise of Carr’s character.
“He’s a wonderful young man,” the coach said of Carr. “He’s brought a lot to his time at Auburn. … When we talk to our players about using their influence in a positive way, I would put him at the top. He just does a super job. We wish him nothing but the best in his career.”
Carr, listed at 6-5, 329-pounds, played in 24 games off the bench during the last two seasons. He was expected to be the backup at left guard in 2018.
A Southside (Gadsden, Ala.) product, Carr was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2015.
