Auburn is in the midst of a 5-3 season filled with disappointments thus far. Ranked No. 8 in the preseason AP Poll, the Tigers have suffered losses to LSU, Mississippi State, and Tennessee while struggling to find a run game and inconsistency form quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
A much-needed bye week came about in Week 10 for Gus Malzahn and his team, with a chance to regroup before hosting a tough Texas A&M team.
On his weekly radio call-in show in Auburn, Malzahn shared what he instructed his team to do as they sat out Saturday.
Auburn’s Gus Malzahn said it’s ‘real important’ for players to watch TV games involving opponents, so he encouraged them to watch Texas A&M-Mississippi State last week.

It is something most players would likely be doing anyway, but the Auburn players that followed Malzahn’s assignment may have started getting flashbacks as Nick Fitzerald scored two rushing touchdowns, including a 76-yard score late in the game that sealed it. Fitzgerald ran for 195 yard and 2 touchdowns against Auburn in Week 6.
A&M lost the game, 28-13 to drop to 5-3 on the year. If any Tiger players did not watch, they have certainly been pouring over film all week, because a win over Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M won’t erase the three losses, but would be a relief for Auburn fans that expected their team to contend for a College Football Playoff spot this season.
The Tigers and Aggies kick off at Noon ET on ESPN Saturday.
