Auburn football had a rough week with COVID-19. After an Aug. 22 scrimmage, the team has only practiced once since on Tuesday. Scheduled practices for Wednesday and Thursday as well as another Saturday scrimmage were all canceled due to a rise in COVID cases on the team.
“We had a pretty challenging week last week,” Malzahn told reporters.
Malzahn said that the Tigers were “vulnerable” at two position groups due to the COVID-19 cases and exposure, leading to the practice cancelations. The Auburn head coach was asked about his goal for this week.
“To practice,” Malzahn said.
Malzahn also shared that 16 Tigers players will be out this week if they get to practice. Auburn will try to practice on Tuesday.
Teams are currently allowed up to 20 hours of on-field practice per week. Teams are allowed to get in 25 total practices before their first game with a mandatory 2 days off per week.

Malzahn said Auburn had 5 COVID-19 positives from the Sunday test. 4 more after that. Two position groups were vulnerable so practices canceled.
