Coming off a 20-14 win over Ole Miss, No. 11 Auburn has a Week 11 bye. The 7-2 Tigers will get to heal and recharge before taking on rival No. 6 Georgia on Nov. 16.

On Wednesday’s SEC media teleconference, Malzahn was asked about UGA’s offense in the Bulldogs’ 24-17 win over Florida.

“Looked like they opened it up more, did a very solid job,” Malzahn said.

The AU coach was asked about two other Tigers rivals. Division rivals Alabama and LSU face off Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

“I’ll be watching with a close eye,” Malzahn said when asked if he’ll be tuning into the top-5 showdown.

Auburn fell to LSU 23-20 in Baton Rouge on Oct. 26. The Tigers end the 2019 regular season hosting the Crimson Tide on Nov. 30.

Here’s some of what Malzahn had to say about his own team, including QB Bo Nix and RB DJ Williams:

  • On the progression of Auburn’s offense: Last Saturday, I thought we did well. We had 500 yards but only 20 points. Ee had some short passes that allowed us to go tempo, ran it better… overall, we are in a decent spot. It’s good to have a bye week to gameplan for the next few weeks.
  • On QB Bo Nix: I thought Bo had his best game last Saturday. He managed the offense well and got us in the right protections. He is progressing, getting more comfortable –so he’s in a good spot.
  • On Auburn defense vs. offense in practice: We knew in the spring we had one of the best defenses we had… we have some depth and those guys are playing well right now.
  • On RB DJ Williams: The best thing is, he has protected the football; that’s what you worry about with young RBs… We have been very impressed with him.
