Auburn will put a wrap on its regular season on Saturday as it travels to Starkville to face Mississippi State. The Tigers have won 3 of the last 4 matchups between the 2 teams and stand as a favorite to make it 4 wins out of 5 against the Bulldogs.
During his weekly radio appearance on “Tiger Talk”, head coach Gus Malzahn addressed the progress of 2 of his running backs, D.J. Williams and Tank Bigsby. Williams sustained an ankle injury against Alabama in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 28 and did not play against Texas A&M, while Bigsby carried 9 times for 76 yards against the Aggies.
According to Malzahn, Williams will be available against the Bulldogs, while Bigsby is reportedly continuing to regain full health after his earlier hip injury. However, Williams is not yet at 100%, according to Malzahn.
The Tigers are in the midst of a 2-game losing streak that included blowout losses to both the Crimson Tide and Aggies. With Malzahn facing a new wave of criticism, he and Auburn will at least look to end a disappointing 2020 campaign on a high note and prepare itself for its bowl game selection.
Auburn and Mississippi State kick off at 6:30 pm CT on the SEC Network.
