Auburn coach Gus Malzahn gave an update on injured running back JaTarvious Whitlow on Tuesday, stating that the running back is day to day.

Whitlow got hurt during the Tigers’ last game against Ole Miss on Oct. 20, and he did not practice last week while nursing shoulder and leg injuries. It is unclear if he will play against Texas A&M on Saturday.

If Whitlow can’t play, Malzahn told the media that Auburn will go by committee at running back against the Aggies, and Asa Martin could be part of that mix.

“We feel right now all our guys can go in there and do a good job, and then we go with the hot hand.” Malzahn said at his press conference.

Whitlow has rushed for 626 yards through eight games this season, and Malzahn feels Whitlow can continue the Tigers’ streak of having a 1,000-yard rusher.

“If he stays healthy, I think he’ll have a good shot at that,” Malzahn told the media.

Malzahn also updated the status of injured right tackle Jack Driscoll, who practiced on a “limited basis” last week due to a left knee injury. Driscoll is also day to day.

Auburn and Texas A&M are set to kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
