Rashan Gary may be a long shot for Auburn, but the Tigers are giving it their best shot.
The nation’s top prospect, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, met with Gus Malzahn on Thursday.
Gary was in Atlanta on Thursday to receive a Bobby Dodd award, and Malzahn apparently made the short drive to say hello.

The were believed to have fallen behind the recruitment of Gary following the departure of former defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, a move that angered Gary’s mother after he allegedly assured her that he was not going to leave The Plains for another coaching job.
The exact quote, according to 247Sports, went a little something like this:
“[Will] Muschamp is a liar,” said Jennifer Coney, the of No. 1 overall prospect Rashan Gary. “A pure liar.”
Still yet, Gary made an official visit to Auburn for the Iron Bowl and does not appear to be holding that against the coaches that are still there.
Another interesting tidbit from the recruitment of Gary is that he has apparently been in touch with Auburn DE Byron Cowart, who was in a similar decision-making situation last recruiting cycle:
No. 1 recruit Rashan Gary says he just spoke briefly to #Auburn DE Byron Cowart about an hour ago. They plan to speak again later tonight.
