The Auburn Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels are locked in a tight battle in Oxford on Saturday afternoon, tied 14-14 at halftime.

After struggling last week, Auburn QB Bo Nix has played fairly well, throwing for 60 yards on 9-of-10 passing. He has also run for 38 yards and a touchdown.

At halftime, coach Gus Malzahn said running the ball with Nix and freshman RB Tank Bigsby was a big part of the game plan:

“A lot of read-zones, so that’s what we did,” Malzahn said to SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic. “We were able to run the football. We got some third-down pickups. We’ve just got to get off the field on defense.”

Defensively, Malzahn said success on third down is going to be the biggest key in the second half:

“I think it’s really going to be about third downs on both sides of the football in the second half,” he said. “We’ve done some good things. They got the fourth-down conversion there and ended up scoring, but it’s going to be about third downs, I believe.”

Will the Tigers be able to pull ahead in the second half? Or will Ole Miss’s high-powered offense be too much for the Tiger defense to handle? Tune in to SEC Network to find out.
