Auburn’s defense did everything it could to keep the Tigers competitive against Alabama in the latest edition of the Iron Bowl, but head coach Gus Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee’s offense never really showed up in the 30-12 loss in Tuscaloosa.

In total, the Auburn offense put up 182 yards of total offense with starting quarterback Jeremy Johnson throwing for only 34 yards with four completions on 13 attempts and backup John Franklin III throwing for 85 yards on two completions.

Kerryon Johnson led the way on the ground with a pedestrian 39 rushing yards while an injured Kam Pettway chipped in 17 yards on 12 carries.

Auburn’s defense managed to interception Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts twice but the offense failed to convert those turnovers into points.

After the game, Malzahn was asked about the play of his quarterbacks and the status of the injured Sean White.

With the loss to the Tide Saturday, Auburn has now dropped three consecutive games to Alabama for the first time since 1992.
