Halftime Quick Take: Sloppy first half offensively for Gators

At the end of the first half, the Florida Gators are tied against the Kentucky Wildcats 3-3.
The first 30 minutes of this football game for the Gators can only be characterized by one word: sloppy.
Quarterback Jeff Driskel has looked abysmal, completing just 7-of-20 passing attempts for 116 yards and one interception. Simply put, he’s looked uncomfortable most of the night. Give credit to the Kentucky defense, who has done a great job disguising their blitz packages and has been able to execute the corner blitz really well. Unlike last week against Eastern Michigan, Kentucky has forced Driskel into some terrible throws and UK’s defensive playmaker Bud Dupree has been in the backfield all game.
The lone bright spots for UF offense lie in sophomores Demarcus Robinson and Kelvin Taylor. Robinson is virtually the only wide receiver Driskel can find tonight, catching five of Driskel’s six completions for 107 receiving yards. Driskel has taken some shots downfield as well, but has overthrown nearly every receiver downfield.
Both Taylor and Matt Jones have led the Florida running game as the Gators have resorted to more of a power running strategy in lieu of Driskel’s struggles. The two have combined for 116 yards on 20 carries in what seems to be the only kind of offense that’s working for the Gators in this first half.
Overall, it’s been a half to forget for the Gators. If it hadn’t been for their stingy defense, Florida could very well find themselves trailing Kentucky instead of going into halftime tied at three points apiece.
