Josh Heupel was rumored to be the top choice to become Missouri’s next offensive coordinator, and several media reports seem to suggest he’s coming to Columbia.

Heupel, in just his first season as offensive coordinator at Utah State, has been named the offensive coordinator under new Missouri head coach Barry Odom, according to several media reports, including the Salt Lake Tribune.

However, Dave Matter, the Missouri beat writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, pumped the brakes on those reports.

Heupel was the lead play-caller and co-offensive coordinator at Oklahoma from 2011-14 before coach Bob Stoops fired him following the 2014 season. Heupel’s replacement, Lincoln Riley, won the Broyles Award on Tuesday, which is awarded to the nation’s top assistant coach.
