Heather Dinich knows the College Football Playoff field has plenty of variables ahead of the first rankings out Tuesday night.

The ESPN reporter spoke on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday from Texas where the committee meets each week. Dinich noted that a 2-loss team has never made the Playoff.

“That certainly doesn’t mean they can’t,” she said. “I’ll go back to LSU last year, we were talking about them until they lost in the SEC Championship Game.”

Dinich said the questions about LSU center on the defense, and whether it can improve and play consistently down the stretch.

“To me, they’ve got to worry about Ole Miss, they’ve got to worry about Florida State,” she said. “The head-to-head things come into play and the SEC West could be an interesting tiebreaker situation, quite honestly. And one of the reasons I have Ole Miss down below … Alabama is because Alabama has to lose twice for the Rebels to get back into the conversation.”

What’s LSU’s biggest question mark? What happens to Florida State. Dinich said it would continue to keep Florida State ahead of LSU as long as it keeps winning.
