Robert Griffin III knows a thing to two about the Heisman Trophy.

After all, he won the award in 2011 as a senior at Baylor, a season in which he accounted for nearly 5,000 yards of total offense and 47 touchdowns in leading the Bears to a 10-3 record.

Most consider the race for the 2021 Heisman to be pretty wide open at this stage of the season.

On Saturday night, Griffin III, who was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by Washington, tweeted out his top 5 contenders.

Of note to SEC fans is that the top 2 players on the list are conference performers: Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral.

Interestingly enough, the college football world won’t have to wait long to see those players go head to head, as the Crimson Tide and the Rebels meet in Tuscaloosa next Saturday.
