Hendon Hooker, JaVonta Payton torch Florida’s defense on 75-yard bomb for Vols

Tennessee is opening its SEC season in Gainesville tonight against No. 11 Florida, and the Volunteers have looked good thus far.

Most recently, quarterback Hendon Hooker and wide receiver JaVonta Payton hooked up on a 75-yard touchdown pass, as Payton got free streaking down the left sideline.

The score, which came with 11:31 remaining in the 2nd quarter, put Tennessee on top, 14-10.

Hooker has been especially effective for the Volunteers thus far, having completed 5-of-8 passes for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Virginia Tech transfer has also added 22 yards on 5 carries for the Tennessee offense, which has already piled up more than 180 yards of total offense early in the second quarter,
