Henry Ruggs III is now facing additional charges in the tragic traffic accident that left a person dead earlier this week.
According to a report by TMZ, the former Alabama star receiver is facing DUI resulting in death, 2 reckless driving charges and DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, which is thought to be from injuries sustained by his girlfriend who was in the car with Ruggs III. All are felonies. The Las Vegas Raiders standout was also charged with a misdemeanor charge of possessing a gun under the influence of alcohol. If convicted on all counts, prosecutors have said Ruggs III is facing 46 years in jail, according to the report.
The entire situation has been difficult to watch as it became more public. There have been multiple videos recounting the incident. Ruggs was reportedly driving 156 miles per hour before the fiery crash that left a 23-year-old woman and her dog dead. The crash occurred at 3:39 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Ruggs, 22, had a blood alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit to drive in Nevada, which has some of the most strict DUI laws in the country.
Ruggs is no longer a member of the Raiders and is being confined to his home after posting bail.
