Former LSU RB Hokie Gajan is a lot of things to the people of Louisiana.
From his playing days for both the Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, to his current role as a Saints radio broadcast personality, Gajan has given fans lots to enjoy over the years both through his play and his voice.
Now, he’s asking for their help.
Gajan is battling a rare form of cancer called liposarcoma, which he was diagnosed with last fall, according to a report from NOLA.com.
According to that same report, Gajan suffered a major setback in his battle on Saturday when a tumor in his thigh caused his femur bone to fracture, putting him into emergency surgery and rendering him wheelchair-bound for the near future.
A group of friends and family launched a GoFundMe page to help defray the medical costs associated with his condition. The surgical and radiation treatments are expensive and Hokie is facing multiple procedures now and in the future.
“I’m scared, I’m nervous, certainly uncertain, but I can promise you this, you know I’m not going to sit around here now and mope about it,” Hokie said in his GoFundMe page. “No. 1, because I don’t really know where this thing is heading.”
We send our best wishes to Hokie as he battles this awful disease, and encourage fans who are so inclined to visit the GoFundMe page for more information on how they may be able to assist.
