Manny Diaz coached much of Miami’s 2021 season on the hot seat. The Canes started Diaz’s third year 2-4, but went 5-1 in the final 6 games to finish 7-5 on the season. UM’s regular-season finish may have been enough for Diaz to keep his job.

Matt Zenitz of On3 shares that “the current feeling” is that Diaz has a good chance to keep his job.

Considering the Early Signing Period is 2 weeks away (Dec. 15-17), it looks like the Canes are sticking with Diaz instead of making a coaching change. That’s welcome news to Ole Miss fans as there was notable chatter that Lane Kiffin would potentially leave for the Miami job if it came open.

Diaz, a former coordinator at Mississippi State and Texas, is 21-15 in 3 seasons as head coach at UM.
