Several true freshmen continue to make an impact this season around the SEC. Here’s a look at some of the biggest contributions from the past week:
Alabama: The Crimson Tide had a bye week.
Arkansas: The Razorbacks were without running back Rawleigh Williams, but classmate Dre Greenlaw continued to make a big impact on defense against UT-Martin. Greenlaw had 10 tackles to lead the team and also forced a fumble.
Auburn: Versatile running back Kerryon Johnson was held in check by the Ole Miss defense, carrying the ball 5 times for 7 yards and was held without a catch. He had 1 kickoff return for 31 yards.
Florida: Running back Jordan Scarlett had the biggest game of his career to date in the Gators’ rivalry win against Georgia. Scarlett carried 9 times for 96 yards. Wide receiver Antonio Callaway was also on fire, making 3 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Georgia: Wide receiver Terry Godwin continues to produce while the Bulldogs as a whole struggle. He made 4 catches for 42 yards.
Kentucky: It was the second blowout loss in a row for the Wildcats, and one of the poorer outings for their standout freshmen. Star defensive back Chris Westry had just 1 tackle. Tight end C.J. Conrad had 1 catch for 6 yards.
LSU: The Tigers had a bye week.
Mississippi State: The Bulldogs also had the weekend off.
Ole Miss: The Rebels are redshirting most of their freshman class, but offensive tackle Javon Patterson continues to play a lot on the offensive line.
Missouri: The Tigers didn’t play this weekend.
South Carolina: Lorenzo Nunez carried 1 time for a 7-yard touchdown run in the loss to Texas A&M.
Tennessee: Chance Hall got his second straight start for the Vols on the offensive line and linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. was in the starting lineup for the fourth straight week. He had 6 tackles, 1 for a loss and had an interception to set up a score in the win against Kentucky. Running back John Kelly added 10 carries for 58 yards.
Texas A&M: Quarterback Kyler Murray got his biggest opportunity of the season and delivered. He completed 20 of 28 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. He also led the Aggies in rushing with 20 carries for 156 yards and a touchdown. Christian Kirk had 6 catches for 37 yards. Defensive tackle Daylon Mack had a tackle for a loss.
Vanderbilt: Quarterback Kyle Shurmur completed 3 of 11 passes for 20 yards with an interception and was sacked once as the Commodores were blown out by Houston.
