This wasn’t how Chad Kelly wanted to end his senior year.
A potential high draft pick, the senior was out to prove unequivocally that he was the best quarterback in the SEC. Dually, his Ole Miss squad had plenty of hype entering the 2016 season.
However, injuries and inconsistency have derailed the Rebels’ shot at winning the SEC West. Ole Miss sits at 4-5, and Kelly has been lost with a season due to a knee injury.

Now, Kelly has cemented himself as a bonafide pro prospect. He’s got the arm strength, moxie, and athleticism needed to succeed on the next level.
There was a time where it wasn’t a slam-dunk for Kelly to realize his vast potential.
He started his career at Clemson — where he was jettisoned as a redshirt sophomore for conduct detrimental to the team.
This may have humbled Kelly a bit. He ended up at EMCC in rural Mississippi, and ultimately ended up in Oxford.
Head coach Hugh Freeze spoke to the media on Monday — addressing a number of topics. He noted Kelly’s personal growth as a player, but more importantly as a person:

Suffice it to say, but Freeze appears to be a big fan of his signal-caller.
