Hugh Freeze did not travel with the rest of the Tigers program to Lexington Friday night, as is custom the day before a matchup. Instead, Auburn’s head coach will be flying up to Lexington Saturday morning with kickoff set for 7:45 p.m. ET.
According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Freeze is dealing with an illness that is “potentially” food poisoning. He’s still expected to coach the Tigers Saturday.
Sources: Auburn coach Hugh Freeze is battling an illness — potentially food poisoning — and didn’t travel with the team to Kentucky yesterday. He’s flying up to Lexington this morning and is expected to coach.

Of course, Freeze is well-known for that one time he coached his Liberty debut from a hospital bed in the stadium, a moment many online recalled in reaction to this news.
The Flames lost that game 24-0 to No. 22 Syracuse.

On a more serious note, Auburn is in desperate need of a win Saturday against the Wildcats after a 2-5 start to the season. Neither team has won a game in the month of October, and both teams have had serious trouble consistently moving the football.
Auburn has at least kept games close this season, while Kentucky is more of a wild card. The Wildcats beat Ole Miss earlier in the year, but also fell to Florida by 28 and South Carolina by 25.
