Hugh Freeze says Auburn will ‘move on’ from controversial calls in Oklahoma loss

Auburn lost its first game of the season this past weekend to John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners. The Tigers didn’t play great. The offensive line gave up 10 sacks, and quarterback Jackson Arnold missed star receiver Cam Coleman down the field multiple times for what could’ve been scores. However, it was the missed calls that frustrated Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze even more.
Auburn wanted multiple pass interference calls that didn’t end up being flagged. There was also a defensive touchdown overturned by the replay booth, but the play that bothered Freeze the most was an Isaiah Sategna touchdown where the wide receiver used a “hideout tactic” to create wide open space. SEC officials admitted to getting the call wrong in a statement they released after the game.
In his Monday media opportunity, Freeze said Auburn can’t dwell on what happened in Norman.
My grandfather always told me that life’s not fair, get used to it, and move on. That’s been my approach this morning for our team. We’re going to move on to (Texas) A&M,” Freeze told reporters. “I think everybody has their own opinion of the different calls made or not made in any given game. I know everybody shares an opinion on those in this game, and I share mine. I have voiced those to the people that it matters to, but ultimately, we can’t do anything about it. We have to turn the page and move on to A&M.
Auburn and Texas A&M are set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN) on Saturday in College Station.
