Former Arkansas TE Hunter Henry injured his shoulder Sunday during practice for his new team the New England Patriots.

While the team isn’t sure what the exact injury is, Henry will need an MRI today to figure out if there is any long-term damage to the shoulder.

However, initial reactions are that the injury isn’t as serious as it looks, but Henry could miss a few games of the preseason, per Patriots reporter Mike Reiss:

Henry has had another persistent leg issue that has forced him to leave the Patriots practice facility already during training camp.

Henry joins a list of injuries for the Patriots that includes LB Raekwon McMillan (torn ACL), Nelson Agholor, and Stephon Gilmore (quadriceps injury).

Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal stated that the trainers “Took Henry back to their shed where it looked like they were focusing on his left shoulder.”

The Patriots acquired Hunter Henry from the Chargers and Jonnu Smith from the Titans to use in their system after both players were not signed after their rookie contracts expired.

Henry signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with $25 million guaranteed this past March to be with the Patriots. In his career, he has 196 receptions for 2,322 yards and 21 touchdowns.
