The nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback for the class of 2017 pulled the trigger for Tennessee Sunday. 247Sports had the story first.

Hunter Johnson committed to the Vols over Notre Dame and Penn State, among others. The 6-3, 200-pound prospect is rated as the country’s No. 11 overall player for the class of 2017.

“I’ve been in contact with Tennessee for so long now and I know so much about Tennessee, I didn’t see a reason why I wouldn’t commit,” Johnson told 247Sports. “That’s what I told my parents, why wouldn’t I go here? I’ve always felt really, really comfortable with Tennessee.”

The Brownsburg, In., became Tennessee’s first commit of the class of 2017, and it’s a big-time commitment for Butch Jones and the Vols.

“I think the distance has always been a perfect distance for me, not too far but close enough to home,” Johnson said, via 247Sports. “Playing in the SEC, Coach Jones, Coach Debord and Coach Sheridan, the whole coaching staff, it’s a really great coaching staff. Tennessee is really on the rise right now. I feel like Tennessee is an opportunity I can’t really pass up.”

Here are Johnson’s highlights:
