Jalen Hurts time: Oklahoma finally names starting QB

It took Oklahoma a while to name a starting quarterback, but it did so Monday.
The Sooners announced former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts will take over for the departed Kyler Murray. Hurts transferred to OU this offseason, and he went through spring practice learning Lincoln Riley’s offense.
In back-to-back seasons, an OU quarterback has won the Heisman Trophy. First, it was Baker Mayfield lighting it up in 2017. Last year, it was Kyler Murray even upping Mayfield’s level of play.
Is it Hurts’ time to hoist the stiff-arm trophy? We’ll soon find out.
Riley’s offense will cater to Hurts’ strengths and hopefully improve his passing. All of the intangibles are there for Hurts to help the Sooners make a College Football Playoff run, but the downfield passing will be under the microscope this season.
In three-career seasons at Alabama, Hurts threw for over 5,600 yards and 48 touchdowns. He also rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns.
