USA Today recently compiled salaries of college football assistant coaches, and the SEC is outspending the competition.

SEC coordinators came in at Nos. 1-4 for highest assistant coach salaries and made up seven of the top 11. Multiple coordinators on this year’s list will be collecting even bigger paychecks as head coaches next season.

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is the highest-paid coordinator outside the SEC at  No. 5 overall, making $1,406,107. Former Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin made more at Michigan ($880,000) this season than his UF replacement, Geoff Collins ($701,500). Durkin recently accepted the head coaching position at Maryland.
