The start of the Bill Belichick era in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has gone about as poorly as possible over the first half of the 2025 season, with the Tar Heels sputtering out to a 2-3 start.
The overwhelming sense of enthusiasm and optimism that permeated the program at the start of the year has now long since faded, leaving behind only frustration and disappointment.
This rough start has seemingly led to Belichick battening down the hatches around his program, with the most recent example being the reported canning of an in-season documentary that was supposed to air on Hulu.
According to Inside Carolina, sources close to the program have reported that UNC is no longer planning on moving forward with the documentary that was announced back in August.
The in-season documentary was intended to follow the Tar Heels’ 2025 campaign, similar to the NFL’s Hard Knocks series, which airs on HBO Max.
With Carolina’s season unraveling more and more by the week, though, it appears that Belichick is no longer interested in having the inner workings of his program broadcast to a national audience.
He may no longer have Hulu film crews following him around, but that doesn’t mean his team’s path is going to get any easier moving forward.
If Belichick wants to salvage his first season in Carolina, he will have to make some drastic changes quickly.
