LSU has more of a stranglehold on its own state than most Power 5 programs do, but one in-state recruit got away on Tuesday.

Da’Monte Coxie, a three-star receiver out of Reserve, La., announced his de-commitment from LSU via Twitter a day before National Signing Day.

Despite Coxie’s decision, the Tigers should still hold onto the top ranking in this recruiting cycle, and it shouldn’t dent the team’s stellar efforts in recruiting receivers for 2016 either. LSU currently has a trio of four-star receivers in Stephen Sullivan, Dee Anderson and Drake Davis.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Coxie, who had been committed to LSU since July, also has offers from Alabama and Florida among other schools. He’s rated as the No. 92 receiver in the class, according to 247Sports’ composite.
