The status of injured players has been one of the biggest storylines heading into Saturday’s College Football Playoff semifinal between No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Both Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa and Sooners WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown are being closely watched as UA and OU prep for Saturday’s showdown.
Brown, Oklahoma’s leading receiver, suffered a lower-leg injury in the Big 12 Championship Game. For much of December, the play-making wide receiver’s status has been uncertain. He recently told reporters, however, that he “anticipates” being able to play against Alabama.

Sooners coach Lincoln Riley indicated Brown’s status is still up in the air.
“Well, we’ll see. We’ll see,” Riley told reporters. “Those things are what they are. He’s battling, so we’ll see where he’s at Saturday.”
If Brown is at full speed, containing him is expected to be a challenge for the Alabama secondary. Brown has 75 catches for 1,318 yards (101.4 yards per game) and 10 touchdowns this season.
