Insider reveals College Football 27 details on cover athletes, Kirk Herbstreit’s status

A familiar voice will reportedly not be part of this year’s College Football video game. According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, Kirk Herbstreit will not appear in College Football 27.
The Herbstreit news comes as a surprise. Herbstreit had been part of the “Big Game” broadcasts on the game for CFB 25 and CFB 26 along Chris Fowler, his Saturday night on ABC broadcasting partner. Herbstreit had also been part of the predecessor NCAA football game series, and a vocal advocate for the game’s return between the 2013 NCAA 14 release and 2024 release of CFB 25.

Nakos’ report on CFB 27 also includes details on the standard edition cover, after the deluxe edition cover leaked in a recent posting online for preorder. Nakos reveals that Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore and Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney will be featured on this year’s standard edition cover. All 3 played in last season’s College Football Playoff.

Per Nakos, the cover will be officially revealed on Tuesday. The EA Sports College Football opening drive introducing this year’s game will release Thursday. Early access for the game begins July 2.
