Florida fans looking for a glimmer of hope as the Gators take on the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs at TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville may need to look no further than the Atlanta Braves’ World Series appearance.

The Braves defeated the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, 4 games to 2, in the National League Championship Series, putting them in the Fall Classic for the first time in 22 years.

If recent history is any indication, that might be a good sign for Gators fans.

As @GatorsReddit, the official Twitter account of the Florida Gators’ Reddit page, notes, prior to 2021 the Braves had been to 5 World Series since moving from Milwaukee to Atlanta in the 1966 season: 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1999. Georgia has lost to Florida in all 5 of those years.

This year looks as good as any for the Dawgs to break what’s been a weird streak — they’ll have to if they’re to remain squarely in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. Florida fans won’t mind seeing that run extended for another year, though.
