Isaiah Bond shares how Alabama is embracing underdog label against Michigan
Isaiah Bond’s Alabama Crimson Tide are gearing up to face off against the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl.
In a rare turn of events, the Tide are underdogs in this game. The Tide were underdogs for the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs as well.
Bond was asked how it feels to be the underdog.
“I feel like it’s a great way to go out there and show why we’re not the underdog, being the underdog,” Bond explained. “So I feel like, like in the Georgia game, saying Georgia is going to beat us even though we didn’t think that was going to happen. But it does add some fire to the chamber.”
The receiver has only lost 3 games during his 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa, so being an underdog is unusual for Bond. However, it appears that Bond and his teammates are using this as motivation for the upcoming matchup.
Bond has stepped up in 2023. The receiver has 44 catches for 621 yards and 4 touchdowns. Bond’s 44 catches are the most on the Tide, and his 621 yards are only behind Jermaine Burton.
The Tide and Wolverines will kick off from the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day at 5 p.m. ET. The winner will face the winner of the Texas vs. Washington game for the College Football Playoff National Championship.
