Making room for Le’Veon Bell: Jets announce Isaiah Crowell won’t return to New York

Isaiah Crowell signed a three-year deal with the Jets this time last year but the organization announced it will be moving on from the former Georgia running back on Thursday.
By cutting Crowell on Thursday, the team avoids paying Crowell a roster bonus of $2 million. In his only season in New York, Crowell rushed for 685 yards and six touchdowns. He appeared in 13 games for the Jets following four seasons of play in Cleveland. For his NFL career, Crowell has rushed for 3,803 yards and 27 touchdowns.
This move comes after New York signed former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell got a four-year deal worth as much as $52 million from the Jets his offseason. After throwing so much investment into Bell, moving on from Crowell made sense for the Jets.
Now that he has been released by the team, Crowell is free to sign with any team once he clears waivers.
