Isaiah Sategna is fast. Really, really fast.
The Oklahoma receiver left Missouri defenders in the dust, scoring the first touchdown of the afternoon with an 87-yard house call. Sategna ran a perfect route that confused Mizzou defenders, and by the time the Tigers reacted it was too late; he ran untouched to the end zone to give Oklahoma a 7-3 lead at the midway point of the 2nd quarter. Oklahoma added to that lead a few minutes later, and now sits at 14-3 with 3 minutes remaining in the first half.
This game had been such a slog to this point, and the Sooners missed several opportunities for a big play. When the big play finally did hit, the Oklahoma crowd responded accordingly. Check it out with the volume on below:
It wasn’t only a big play for Sategna, though. Sooners quarterback John Mateer needed that one badly. As briefly mentioned above, the former Washington State quarterback was struggling with accuracy before that perfect throw to Sategna in stride. Before that completion, Mateer had completed just 4 passes for less than 30 yards.
But after Sategna’s touchdown, the dam sort of broke loose. Oklahoma found the end zone again just a few minutes later, with Mateer finding Javonnie Gibson for 6.
