It only took 3 quarters for Auburn’s offense to set a series record against LSU

Auburn’s offense did something it’s never done against LSU. And even after that, the Tigers from The Plains tacked on a 91-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix to Anthony Schwartz.
Auburn had already scored the most its scored in the series when it reached 42 points, but then the Schwartz touchdown made it the most of either program, and more than LSU’s 45-10 win in 2011 as Auburn built a 48-3 lead. LSU also won 45-21 in 2015.
Nix had three touchdown passes by that point, and tacked on a touchdown run as Auburn benefitted from 21 points off turnovers as LSU eventually turned to Max Johnson after T.J. Finley struggled in his second start.
Auburn spread around the offense with five rushers and six receivers in the game, as Nix also reached 300 yards passing with that Schwartz touchdown pass. Auburn was efficient, too, with a 5-for-6 conversion rate in the red zone, and Auburn also averaged 8.3 yards per play by early in the fourth quarter.
The scoring outburst was about double the normal score in recent years by the winning team.
Auburn’s 42 points are the most its scored against LSU in the series history.
The most any team has scored in the game has been 45, when LSU defeated Auburn 45-10 on Oct. 22, 2011.
