Jachai Polite acknowledges ‘terrible’ Combine, still considers himself a first-round talent

The Florida Gators held their pro day on Wednesday, and many scouts were there to see how EDGE Jachai Polite would perform.
Polite was widely considered a first-round pick before the NFL Combine, where he absolutely bombed, both on the field and in interviews.
On Wednesday, he admitted that he wasn’t ready for the Combine, but added that he hopes NFL teams can see past that performance to realize he’s still a first-round talent (via TampaBay.com):
“I just wasn’t ready at all,” Polite said. “I just wasn’t ready mentally.
“In my head I feel like I’m still there (in the first round). Where they pick me, I don’t know. But I believe in myself, first and foremost. Whoever gets me, whoever’s taking a chance from my terrible interviews and combine, they’re going to get a great player.”
Polite didn’t have a much better showing at the pro day, though, once again coming up injured after a disappointing 40-time:
#Gators DE Jachai Polite pulled up hurt after a poor first 40 at Pro Day. Barely cracked 5 seconds. Now has ice taped to his right quad. Probably done for the day.

Where will Polite go in the NFL Draft? We’ll find out in less than a month, but he’s not doing himself any favors.
