It’s safe to say that Jacob Copeland will likely play his college football in the SEC.
Copeland, from Pensacola, Florida, dropped his top five Tuesday night on Twitter, and all five were SEC teams: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee. One of those five teams is going to get a big-time playmaker, and he’s set to choose live at the Under Armour All-American Game.
Listed at 6-0, 192 pounds, Copeland is rated as the country’s No. 52 overall prospect for the class of 2018, and he’s also rated as the country’s No. 9 overall wide receiver and the state of Florida’s No. 10 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Florida Panhandle is an intense area for recruiting. It’s close to Alabama, though it’s in the state of Florida, and the Crimson Tide have done well in this area in recent history. Trent Richardson is one who comes to mind from Pensacola. In fact, Copeland attends the same high school that Richardson did at Escambia.
Most figure the Florida Gators lead for Copeland, but it will be a nice recruiting battle for his signature.
Here are Copeland’s junior highlights, and it’s easy to see why every coach in the country was all over Copeland. He has playmaker written all over him:
