Jacob Hester is a legend in the eyes of LSU football fans for many reasons. Arguably the biggest though, was the violent and physical style of football that he played. He didn’t shy away from contact, he embraced it.
On Saturday night, Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks was ejected for a targeting against Florida. Hester voiced on social media his displeasure with the call.
“I would have been arrested in 2007 under the current rules,” Hester remarked.
Like Hester was for his LSU teams, Weeks is one of the true leaders on the team. He is also one of the very best linebackers in all of college football. Last season, he finished with 120 tackles, and he has played a huge role in the improvement the defense has made. Last year, they struggled on that side of the ball, but this year the Tigers look like one of the best defenses in all of college football.
While it was a tough break for Weeks to be ejected from the game, he remained heavily involved in the game by talking to his teammates constantly throughout the game. With the ejection happening in the first half, Weeks will not have to sit out any of next week’s game against Southeast Louisiana.
