Former South Carolina pass rusher and No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney played 30 snaps and made four tackles in Sunday’s opener for the Houston Texans, settling any worries concerning his surgically-repaired knee.
“Just getting a feel for it, my first time back out there in a while,” Clowney said, according to the Houston Chronicle. “I think it went pretty good for me. It felt great to be out there with my teammates and having gun. Coach [Bill O’Brien] told me to just let the game come to me, don’t go out there and be antsy because all week long I was like, ‘Don’t know how it’s going to go, I’m just ready to play.’ They limited my reps, so it was just getting the feel of the game and having fun.”
One of Clowney’s four stops came on a 3rd-and-1 in the second half, nullifying a drive for the Kansas City Chiefs. Clowney’s top play, a call that ran to J.J. Watt’s side, featured the defensive end pouncing off the edge to chase down Jamaal Charles from behind.

Strength wasn’t an issue either, shown here when Clowney abuses Kansas City’s tight end with one arm.
