Saturday from Columbia, Georgia delivered the most impressive win of the 2018 college football season beating a ranked South Carolina team by a whopping 41 to 17 margin.

If there was any doubt which team owns the SEC East heading into Saturday, that question was emphatically answered in Williams-Brice Stadium — the East continues to be lead by the Dawgs. The Bulldogs once again owned the ground game against the Gamecocks, earning a 271 to 54 edge on the ground.

One of the topics heading into the game was the heat of Columbia. According to Jake Fromm, who spoke with the media after the game, the temperature helped the Bulldogs and not the Gamecocks.

“I think our depth really pays a huge part. I think the heat really helped us today,” Fromm said after the game in a video posted to YouTube by DawgTime Magazine.

Fromm believes the contest changed when Georgia’s offensive line took control of the game.

“Our guys up front just started moving people,” he said about the turning point. “Our guys are just bigger and stronger and we are lasting a lot longer than their guys. I think that’s a testament to our strength staff and Coach Sinclair and all of our guys and just the way we prepared. I think it paid off for us.”

This thought from the Georgia quarterback encapsulates the game probably better than any following a long offseason and training camp of work down in Athens.

“Somebody had to pay for the preparation we do and today that somebody was South Carolina,” Fromm said.
