Jalen Milroe almost single-handedly drove Alabama to a 7-0 lead early on against Georgia on Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide went up by a score thanks to a 7-yard rushing touchdown by Milroe. It capped off an 8-play, 70-yard drive that was almost entirely produced by Milroe.

With the exception of an 11-yard rush from Germie Bernard, Milroe was responsible for every yard gained by Alabama on that drive. As a passer, he went 3-for-3 for 44 yards. As a runner, he carried the ball 4 times for 30 yards and the all-important touchdown.

Milroe’s brilliance was enough to overcome a penalty-ridden drive for the Tide. Alabama was assessed 20 yards worth of penalties on the drive, but it ultimately didn’t matter. Arguably the biggest play of the drive — aside from the score — was a 16-yard rush that Milroe pulled off after a holding penalty put the Tide at 1st and 20. Two plays later, Alabama found the end zone.

Milroe already has more rushing yards against Georgia than he did in last year’s SEC Championship Game win over the Bulldogs (29).

Georgia closed as a 2-point favorite in this game at most sportsbooks. It’s the first time Alabama has been a home underdog since the 2007 season.
