Jermaine Burton had a career game against Texas A&M on Saturday. The senior wide receiver posted 197 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Heading into the game, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe knew he was due for a big game given how he practiced all week.
“I just saw something in his eyes starting the week off,” Milroe said in a press conference Monday. “He was hungry, he was ready to go. You didn’t even have to ask him if he was locked in, you could just tell with how well he practiced and how committed he was to the gameplan. That all factored into the success that was present this weekend.”
Milroe believes the game can be the start of something big for Burton. Moving forward, he expects Burton to be a big piece of the offense.
“We all know that he can make plays,” Milroe said. “We’re going to put him in position to do so and the focus point for now is just a successful offense no matter what it is, what part of the system it is. But we know that Jermaine Burton’s a big factor for us to be successful.”
So far this season, Burton has logged 386 yards and 4 touchdowns. He and the Alabama offense are hoping his momentum from the game will carry into this weekend’s matchup against Arkansas.
