Jalen Milroe didn’t have the best game of his career, but the Tide quarterback showed up in some big moments on Saturday and proved that he’s continuing to grow in his first season as Alabama’s starter.

Milroe had 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but what really stood out was his composure on a crucial final drive for Alabama.

Arkansas crawled back into the game and was within reach, trailing by 3. Alabama had a chance to put the game away, but the Tide needed a few first downs to do so.

That’s when Milroe stepped up.

Milroe picked up a first down on a 5-yard pass on second down, then on a crucial third down, he picked up 5 yards on the ground to get another first down. A few plays later on a 2nd and 13 situation, rather than going to the ground, Nick Saban put his trust in Milroe, and he delivered with a 14-yard throw while being hit to pick up a first down and just about close out the game.

The performance on the final drive was another step in the right direction, and fans and media praised him for his efforts.
