When news leaked that Florida early enrollee Jalon Jones had entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, many Gator fans were surprised at what could have led to that action.

Now we have a good idea of why Jones’ stay in Gainesville looks to be a short one.

According to Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times, Jones has been accused of sexual battery. This information comes from a police report following an alleged incident that took place in April. According to the report, the accuser is a Florida student and she has declined to press charges.

Jones was a four-star member of Florida’s 2019 signing class and the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Jones signed with Florida over scholarship offers from Alabama, Mississippi State and Louisville, among others.

SDS will update this story when more information becomes available.
