Jam Miller injury update: Kalen DeBoer shares target date for Miller’s return
Alabama is hopeful running back Jam Miller will be back in the starting lineup when the Crimson Tide face Georgia on Sept. 27.
Miller suffered a significant collarbone injury in fall camp earlier this month. He’s already been ruled out for Alabama’s season-opener vs. Florida State next week, but coach Kalen DeBoer has circled the UGA game as a potential return date for Miller.
That’s according to ESPN’s Chris Low, who broke that news on Friday afternoon.
“He’s a leader for us, a quiet leader, but somebody the players all respect,” DeBoer said, via ESPN. “Having that bye week, I feel good that he will be back out there. He does so many things for us at that position.”
If Miller doesn’t play until Sept. 27, that means he would miss game against FSU, Louisiana-Monroe and Wisconsin. The Crimson Tide also have the first of two open dates set for the weekend of Sept. 20.
As long as Miller is out, Alabama will rely on a group of rather inexperienced options at running back. Richard Young, Dre Washington, AK Dear and Daniel Hill are among the top options to get carries while Miller is injured.
