Ja’Marr Chase calls Joe Burrow the No. 1 player in the NFL: ‘Everybody knows that’
Ja’Marr Chase will take his guy over anyone. Literally.
The star receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals told NFL Films recently that his quarterback, Joe Burrow, is the No. 1 player in the NFL right now. NFL Network and NFL Films have started promoting the release of their Top 100 list later this summer, and a video shared earlier this week highlighted several NFL stars being asked to give their picks for the No. 1 spot.
Some said themselves. A few defenders grabbed votes. Chase said it was Burrow. Asked about that pick on Thursday, the former LSU All-American doubled down.
“Joe Burrow. Everybody knows that,” Chase said. “That’s easy. MVP.”
When he was informed that Burrow himself said Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes had his vote for the No. 1 spot, Chase offered a little jab. “Who said Pat? Pat who?”

Burrow has led the Bengals to consecutive 10-win seasons for the first time since Cincy did it 4 straight years from 2012-15. He was the AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 and helped Cincy to the Super Bowl in just his second NFL campaign.
Kansas City thwarted a return trip last season with a 23-20 victory over the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.
Burrow came in fourth in MVP voting last season after throwing for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns. Chase was on the receiving end of 9 of those scores and 1,046 yards. The duo will look to lead another Super Bowl charge in 2023.
