James Madison, Jacksonville State become bowl eligible following SEC loss
James Madison and Jacksonville State could be going bowling.
It was up in the air whether the two teams would be eligible for a bowl, as the NCAA prohibits teams transitioning to the FBS level from postseason play. However, in the case that the are not enough 6-6 teams to fill all the bowl games — there need to be 82 teams to fill the 41 bowl games — James Madison and Jacksonville State would be eligible.
South Carolina lost its game against Clemson Saturday night, leaving the Gamecocks a game shy of the 6-6 mark and clearing the way for James Madison and Jacksonville State to compete in bowls.

The Dukes have had a magical first season at the FBS level. They went 11-1 on the year, losing to App State last week. James Madison would be playing in the Sun Belt Championship if it were eligible for it.
Jacksonville State has also had a solid first FBS season, going 8-4 on the year.
