James Madison and Jacksonville State could be going bowling.

It was up in the air whether the two teams would be eligible for a bowl, as the NCAA prohibits teams transitioning to the FBS level from postseason play. However, in the case that the are not enough 6-6 teams to fill all the bowl games — there need to be 82 teams to fill the 41 bowl games — James Madison and Jacksonville State would be eligible.

South Carolina lost its game against Clemson Saturday night, leaving the Gamecocks a game shy of the 6-6 mark and clearing the way for James Madison and Jacksonville State to compete in bowls.

The Dukes have had a magical first season at the FBS level. They went 11-1 on the year, losing to App State last week. James Madison would be playing in the Sun Belt Championship if it were eligible for it.

Jacksonville State has also had a solid first FBS season, going 8-4 on the year.
