Jared Benko won’t be sticking around Starkville to see how the Mike Leach era turns out.

That’s because the former Mississippi State administrator is headed to Georgia Southern after landing a promotion.

Benko was hired by Mississippi State back in 2016 as senior associate athletics director for finance but will be moving on after landing the athletic director role at Georgia Southern. Adam Rittenberg of ESPN was the first to report the news.

While Benko was hired as senior associate athletics director for finance at Mississippi State, he had moved into the deputy AD role, in addition to the CFO position, in Starkville during his tenure with the school.

Mississippi State wasn’t the only SEC experience Benko has as he worked at Georgia, Arkansas and Auburn before landing in Starkville. Benko is a graduate of Georgia.
