Jarrett Stidham is currently down in Mobile this week attempting to raise his stock when it comes to the 2019 NFL Draft. He can do so by impressing NFL scouts and GMs during the week of activities and practices leading up to the weekend’s Senior Bowl game.

Of course, in addition to all the physical tests prospects go through during their time in Mobile, they also have media obligations and meetings with teams. Several of the media availabilities are made public, especially the ones done by quarterbacks, and Stidham was no different.

While most of the topics the former Auburn quarterback discussed had to do with the NFL and his past experiences that led him to this point, he was also asked to share his thoughts on the offseason quarterback competition that has already begun on The Plains.

“I think it’s going to be a really good competition. Obviously, I know every single one of those guys really, really well. I don’t know what direction all of that is headed, but I’ll be excited to see it once I get down there and hopefully watch a couple of spring practices,” Stidham offered up on the subject.

While he didn’t mention any specific players there, Stidham was then asked a follow-up on Auburn’s incoming five-star and Under Armour All-American signal caller, Bo Nix.

“I got to spend some time with him last summer – when was it, at the Elite 11, and see him on visits and stuff like that. Me and Will Hastings hosted him and some other guys on their official visit, so I’ve got to know him really, really well over the last year. Tremendous person, tremendous kid and has a really bright future,” Stidham continued.

“I think he can make all the throws. I really do. I think he’s really smart. He’s a coach’s kid, so he better be smart. I think the main thing for him is he can run around a little bit and extend plays.”

Read into that what you will, but Stidham appears to be confident that Nix can eventually grow into the role and be the quarterback that will one day lead Auburn’s offense. The question now is whether that occurs this offseason or if Auburn fans have to wait until 2020 to really see what Nix can do on the field.
