Jarrett Stidham did not waste any time throwing a touchdown pass on his first drive as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Stidham, who was named the starter after the team benched Derek Carr, found Darren Waller for a 24-yard pass on 3rd down and 2 with 11:40 left in the first quarter against the San Francisco 49ers.
Stidham, a former Auburn QB, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, where current coach Josh McDaniels was the offensive coordinator. He was a backup all 3 seasons, and appeared in 8 games. Stidham didn’t play in 2021 because of back surgery that July.
He was traded by the Patriots to the Raiders in May and he was reunited with McDaniels. Leading up to his first career start, Stidham called it a “dream come true.”
