As the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

That might be the case as it relates to former Independence Community College head coach and “Last Chance U” star Jason Brown. Last year, he fell for an obvious trolling tweet from a Florida fan linking him to the then-vacant offensive coordinator post at Florida State.

This year, with the head coaching post at Florida State open with the firing of Willie Taggart, it appears Brown has taken the bait once more. A Twitter account with the handle @news_fsu posted that the Seminoles had been in contact with him about the vacant job, and again, Brown responded.

In fairness, Brown probably already knew that the account and Tweet were fake: the @news_fsu account had 5 followers and was following 0 people at the time of the post. Still, you’d expect that even if he felt that he was the right man for the job, FSU would hire someone with much stronger credentials at the major college level and a proven track record on the recruiting trail. It probably wouldn’t hire someone with a history of some serious criminal allegations tied to him, either.

As for the person behind @news_fsu? It’s not known if this is another Florida fan, but it’s clear they were just out for a laugh.
